ReFlex Power™ is a high density, modular programmable power system providing DC, AC and electronic load assets all under control of a single controller. It provides a reconfigurable, flexible platform ideal for ATE and production test environments where RFP™ can provide programmable stimulus and bias power as well as programmable loads for the device(s) under test. The EIA 4U high RFP™ mainframe can hold up to 12 single-slot modules or combinations of single, dual and triple slot wide modules to configure (or reconfigure) the system for the particular requirements at hand. The mainframe can support up to 6 kW of output power.

Up to 8 mainframes, potentially up to 95 modules, can be controlled via a single controller. The CTS Series is a complete, turn-key compliance test system for EN IEC 1000-3-2 (Harmonics) Including A14, EN IEC 1000-3-3 (Flicker) and various EN IEC 1000-4 AC immunity tests. Consisting of an AC power source, a power analysis conditioning system (PACS) and a PC based data acquisition system, the CTS provides a complete turn-key solution for IEC testing. The Windows™ based CTS software performs the IEC tests and generates detailed test reports. Comprehensive data files are stored on disk to allow post test analysis.

The CTS system implements various IEC standards including the new Amendment 14 and provides a software only upgrade path for future standard changes.

EN 61000-3-2 Harmonics 
Full compliance testing for current harmonics emissions of class A, B, C and D products is supported. Support for both the 1998 and 2001 version (Amendment 14) of the Harmonics standard is built-in for full compliance with both harmonics standards.

EN 61000-3-3 Flicker 
Flicker PST & PLT results are displayed in realtime during the entire test. No need to wait until the entire test is completed to know if the EUT passed or failed. Both programmable and lumped reference impedance methods are available for flicker testing.

Configurations The CTS system is available in both single phase and three phase configurations. Single phase configurations range in power from 1250 VA to 5000 VA.

AC Power Source
Available in a choice of power levels ranging from 1250 VA to > 45,000 VA, the CTS Systems covers the complete range of single and three phase products that require testing to conform with existing and pending IEC standards. All iX Series AC sources meet IEC requirements for low voltage distortion and offer arbitrary waveform generation, precision measurements, and waveform analysis capabilities. Actual
AC Source voltage distortion is measured in real-time during the harmonics test and any distortion that could affect the test results is clearly indicated.

All iX Series based CTS systems support full compliance testing for several IEC 61000-4 AC immunity standards as well (certain options may be required, see ordering information for details).

Direct PC Data Acquisition
A high-speed digital signal processor based data acquisition system is used to implement the required IEC compliance measurement system. Direct access to the PC bus ensures a much higher data throughput capability than typically found in single box IEC test systems that use either the IEEE-488 instrumentation, USB, LXI or RS-232 bus to communicate between the analysis instrument and the PC.

This high-speed acquisition system architecture stores raw data to the hard drive and offers several features. It not only possesses the ability to support future versions of test standards by merely installing new PC software but it also greatly reduces the risk of product obscolescence as test standards evolve. Furthermore, since the data is streamed to hard disk in real-time, a complete data record is created each time which may be used for audit purposes, data replay and further analysis or to prove compliance to all the measurement requirements specified in the test standard.

A special signal conditioning and isolation unit is used to provide quick and easy connection between the AC source output and the Equipment Under Test. This unit provides the required isolation, signal conditioning and anti-alias filtering for the measurement system. The equipment under test can be plugged in the front panel mounted European style outlet (single phase systems only), or wired to a rear panel mounted terminal block.

Harmonics Analyzer
A key part of the CTS system is the IEC compliant power analyzer which provides detailed information on both voltage and current. Measurements of both harmonics and interharmonics are made in real-time with no measurement gaps to fully conform to the latest revision of the IEC 61000-4-7 test standard. AC source voltage and EUT power are
monitored continuously during the entire test. Voltage distortion and current harmonic data is checked against IEC class limits for pass or fail detection. Comprehensive test reports can be generated easily.

Test limits are retained in a password protected database and can be updated if needed in the future without the need to change software. Other software changes as a result of changing IEC harmonics standard can be accomplished by simply installing new PC software. No harmonics testing software resides in system firmware which would require more costly field upgrades.

Flicker Reference Impedance
An IEC61000-4-15 compliant flicker meter is an integral part of the CTS software. The required IEC 60725 compliant reference impedance is implemented in the iX Series AC Source using programmable output impedance. Programmable impedance offers improved accuracy compared to a lumped reference impedance and the ability to support different national standards without the need to switch out lumped reference impedance hardware. A good example is testing for compliance with the Japanese harmonics and flicker standard, which requires different impedance values to be programmed as compared to the European test standard.

Optionally, a lumped impedance compliant with IEC 60725 or the Z-test specification of IEC61000-3-3 can be ordered for single or three phase iX Series based CTS systems. For three phase CTS systems, a lumped impedance option is recommended. The software can be configured to use either impedance type during flicker testing.

molstic-S Mounting System

A key benefit of its modular design is that molstic-S can be used for testing devices in either the upstream or downstream position. The optional, adjustable DUT stand (P/N 401934) accommodates large DUTs that do not fit on the molstic-S.

molstic-S is available in either 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch system plumbing sizes. The 1/4 inch size is dedicated to the molbloc-S elements designated 1E2-S and lower, and the 1/2 inch size is for the 2E2-S through 2E3-S elements. All molstic-S platforms come with integrated flow shut-off/metering valves. This allows for system leak testing and provides a means of flow control (if required by DUT type). Optional high resolution metering valve kits are available for use with the 1/4 inch molstic-S in order to obtain finer flow control capability.

MOLSTIC-S USAGE

Because molbloc-S operates in the critical flow regime, test devices that have flow control capability must be installed upstream of the molbloc-S in order to control flow.

Devices that are to be calibrated at atmospheric pressure are generally installed downstream of the molbloc-S. molstic-S is built modularly in order to provide this flexibility.

Inlet gas supply pressure regulation is vitally important in order to protect the molbox pressure transducers. Therefore, it is recommended that the molstic-S Supply Only molstic be used upstream of test devices that have flow control capability and that the pressure reducing regulator option be installed on the molstic-S when calibrating devices that operate at atmospheric pressure. An optional back pressure regulator can be installed on the molstic-S to provide control of an upstream DUTs downstream pressure.

molstic-S™ provides an engineered solution to the practical issues of mounting molbloc-S® mass flow elements, connecting a gas supply, regulating the operating pressure and connecting the device under test (DUT). A filter is included on the 1/4 inch molstic-S to protect the smaller molbloc-S elements from contamination. Highest quality components are integrated into a convenient, compact, modular assembly to assure optimum molbloc®/molbox™ performance.

The single channel molstic-S is designed to accommodate one molbloc-S element. The dual channel allows two molbloc-S elements to be simultaneously mounted, allowing use of two ranges without changing hardware during a test. In addition, the outlet of the two molbloc-S elements can be plumbed in parallel using the downstream tee assembly (P/N 401884) in order to obtain additional flow range capacity when using a two-channel molbox1+.

5615 Secondary Reference Temperature Standards

The 5615-12 is a Platinum Resistance Thermometer (PRT) with an Inconel™ 600 sheath that’s 305 mm (12 in) long and 6.35 mm (0.250 in) in diameter. It is a secondary reference temperature standard designed to bridge the gap between the highest laboratory standards and industrial or second-tier lab locations. It has accuracy of ± 0.012 °C at 0.01 °C.

The element is constructed of reference-grade platinum wire (99.999 % pure) for excellent stability. The wire is wound in a coil and placed in a mandrel where it’s uniformly supported in a manner that virtually eliminates hysteresis. The electrical configuration is a four-wire current-potential hookup that eliminate the effects of lead-wire resistance.

These Inconel™-sheathed probes have a fully supported sensing element, making them more durable than SPRTs. The element is protected in an ultrahigh-purity ceramic case with a hermetic glass seal to improve output stability by locking out moisture and contaminants.

This probe comes calibrated with ITS-90 coefficients, making it compatible with many excellent readout devices, including Fluke Calibration’s 1529 Chub-E4, 1560 Black Stack, and 1502A Tweener. It bridges the gap between a 100-ohm industrial RTD and an SPRT.

For those needing faster thermal response, or where diameter and immersion depth are problems, order the 5615-9 or 5615-6. These probes are excellent reference probes for comparison calibrations in a Fluke Calibration dry-well. The sheaths of the 5615-6 and 5615-9 are 4.76 mm (0.188 in) in diameter.

A printout of sensor resistance is provided in 1 °C increments for each probe. The 5615-9 and 5615-12 are calibrated from –196 °C to 420 °C. The 5615-6 is calibrated to 300 °C.

We’ve tested many of the probes on the market. We’ve used them in our manufacturing facility and tested them in the lab, and this is an excellent secondary standards PRT. Other instruments on the market are priced much higher, have lower stability, or are of lower quality.
