he IRR1 irradiance meter is the perfect tool to conduct comprehensive tests and measurements on photovoltaic systems. It provides four key measurements all in one tool: irradiance, temperature, tilt, and compass degree.

Irradiation is a critical metric to consider when conducting a survey or inspection of a solar installation.

1. IRRADIANCE: The Fluke IRR1 irradiance meter instantaneously measures solar irradiance up to 1400 watts per square meter. In addition to irradiance, solar professionals need to measure the temperature of the surfaces of a photovoltaic panel.

+ TEMPERATURE: The Fluke irradiance meter comes with an integrated temperature sensor that allows users to measure the top of a solar panel, simply by placing the unit on the surface. To measure the temperature of the back of the panel, the Fluke Irradiance Meter comes with an attachable, external probe.

+ TILT: Tilt angle of a solar panel is important to maximize efficiency. Identify the ideal inclination of a panel by enabling the tilt function. For scenarios where the rooftop is not level, use the Zero function to calculate the real tilt.

+ COMPASS DEGREE: The location and direction of a panel determines the amount of irradiation absorbed. Get the direction of the panel in degrees by using the compass function on the IRR1 irradiance meter.

Detecting Power Quality Issues

0    77

Poor power quality comes at a cost. Monetary cost can come from power losses, but damaged assets could cost even more, including potential losses due to down time of a manufacturing process. Assets damaged by power quality events that result in increased heat will certainly shorten equipment life. To the untrained eye, problems in electrical distribution systems may not be recognisable as power quality problems. Knowing and recognising the most common power quality symptoms and how to troubleshoot them is a first step in solving power quality issues.
