Fluke PVA-1500 series Front view

Fluke PVA-1500 Series

sku Product SKU:  FLK-PVA-1500s

Measure your solar PV system performance

The PVA-1500 is a cutting-edge I-V curve tracer kit designed to measure PV system performance. With this high precision testing equipment, you can reliably assess the health and performance of solar modules and arrays, making informed decisions to enhance their output and longevity.

The PVA-1500 kit offers an array of advanced features, including high throughput I-V curve tracing, providing quick and detailed performance data. Its intuitive user interface enables easy navigation and real-time analysis, allowing for immediate identification of potential issues. By pinpointing problems early, you can maximize your solar energy production and minimize downtime.

Comprehensive measurements and efficient analysis

For commissioning, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PV arrays, I-V curve testing is the most complete solar module performance measurement. Quick analysis of curve datasets aids in detecting outliers, and the stored data functions as a baseline for future performance inquiries.

Accurate I-V curve tracing

The PVA measures the I-V (current versus voltage) curve of a PV string or module using a capacitive load. The measurement is typically performed at the string level by connecting directly to the string or at a combiner box using the fuses to select the string under test. The number of I-V curve points can be selected at 100 or 500. Additionally, the PVA generates the P-V (power versus voltage) curve, Isc, Voc, Imp, Vmp, Pmax, fill factor, and performance factor (the ratio of measured to expected maximum power).

Time-saving interface

With a tablet or laptop (Windows only) as the user interface, perform more tests per hour and display the data in multiple, easy to read formats. Save your measurements by touching your customized array tree at the branch you are measuring. The software automatically calculates the expected I-V curve and displays the performance factor.

Advanced High Efficiency PV Testing Capabilities

Accurate measurement of high efficiency modules up to 30A: Highly efficient modules (>19% module efficiency) possess high capacitance, posing a challenge for some I-V curve tracers that may not be able to measure them. The PVA-1500HE2 is uniquely designed to measure all string types, even those with high efficiency modules, up to 30A. Rapid performance in high temperature environments: The PVA-1500HE2 operates with a swift sweep-to-sweep delay of 9 seconds (at Voc < 1350V). This results in the ability to measure 3.5 MW within an hour, even in high-temperature settings where standard curve tracers often fail due to overheating.

SolSensor™ Wireless PV Reference Sensor

The SolSensor™ provides irradiance, module temperature, and array tilt data to the PV model. The model uses this information to predict the I-V curve shape at these operating conditions and to translate the measured curve to standard test conditions. The SolSensor™ clamps to the module frame, automatically orienting the irradiance sensor to the plane-of-array.

The spectral response of the silicon photodiode sensor in the SolSensor™ is corrected for the PV technology under test. Special factors are provided for multi- and mono-crystalline cells as well as cadmium telluride (CdTe) and other thin film technologies. The sensor is temperature compensated and the angular response of each unit is calibrated for rotation and elevation. As a result, the SolSensor™ is accurate over a broad range of technologies, sky conditions, and sun angles, allowing I-V curve measurements earlier and later in the day.

The SolSensor™ provides two external thermocouple inputs for measuring module backside temperatures. Effective cell temperature can also be calculated directly from the measured I-V curve per IEC 60904-5. The PVA’s SmartTemp™ feature, optionally, blends these two methods for best accuracy.

The PVA and SolSensor™ communicate wirelessly with your PC via WiFi with a line-of-sight wireless range of 100m. That means no wires underfoot, quick setup, the ability to move around while troubleshooting strings, and flexibility to measure multiple combiner boxes with a single SolSensor™ setup.

Turn PVA data into key insights, visualizations, and customizable reports

Capture data in the field with the PVA Application and validate the results with the Data Analysis Tool (DAT), a Microsoft Excel™-based solution streamlining the analysis of PVA I-V curve data. It presents analysis results in multiple formats. It compiles key PV parameters in a string table, flags non-conforming strings, and delivers a statistical overview of the entire array. Additionally, it visually combines string I-V curves at the combiner box level, offering a clear depiction of consistency and identifying atypical strings. The tool also generates histograms for PV parameters across the string population, and this data can be added to a customizable report exported as a PDF. The Data Analysis Tool (DAT) can be downloaded for free use with any PVA. Supported languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese.

CPD seminar: Earth, Ground & Installation Testing

sku Product SKU:  SEM-CPD-EGITesting

EGITestingYOU’LL LEARN:
The initial design of an electrical installation from the local transformer to the user facility is usually done with care and attention to the planned energy usage of the facility. However, with time, the system deteriorates, and the electrical activities and energy usage may change radically or may, in fact, become unstable and dangerous, especially if a fault condition occurs.

This one-day technical seminar will review the technology implemented by the various tests that must be done during the design, installation and commissioning phases of a new electrical system.
The second session will look at what is required to maintain a live system to ensure that it operates efficiently and, most importantly, that should a serious fault occur, the system will absorb the fault energy and keep the system safe.

Tests will be demonstrated on a live installation where possible or alternatively
on a simulated system

Fluke 2052

sku Product SKU:  FLK-2052

Built to Keep You Safe

The Fluke 2052 Advanced Wire Tracer accurately and safely troubleshoots energized and de-energized wires in residential, commercial, and industrial environments up to CAT IV 600 V. This CAT rating offers the highest protection available on any wire tracer. It’s designed to protect you from the most dangerous levels of transient overvoltage, spikes up to 8,000 V, that can occur in industrial and utility environments. This is especially important for scenarios you may encounter in environments like industrial plants, factories, and hospitals where critical equipment cannot be taken offline.

Wire Tracing Customized for Your Application

Whether troubleshooting electrical wiring and equipment in residential homes, commercial buildings, or high-voltage utility plants, the Fluke 2052 can find breaks or opens and shorts. Its different modes and functions give you the flexibility to troubleshoot a wide range of electrical wiring and circuitry problems you may encounter on the job.

Four Receiver Tracing Modes

The 2052-R Receiver detects the signal in wires and cables using two methods: passive tracing without the transmitter for non-contact voltage detection and active tracing with the transmitter for all other modes. The receiver’s tip sensor can trace wires in corners, tight spaces, and junction boxes.

  • “Quick Scan” mode for energized wire detection and visualization on the large color LCD
  • “Precision” mode for more precise detection of a wire
  • “Breaker” mode for easy breaker and fuse identification based on the highest recorded signal detected from the transmitter
  • “Non-Contact Voltage Detection” mode to trace energized wires without the use of the transmitter

Three Transmitter Power Modes

The 2000-T Transmitter works on energized and de-energized circuits up to CAT IV 600 V and features high, low, and loop modes. These modes change the strength of the induced signal and can help provide more accurate results, depending on the circuit you’re tracing.

  • “High” mode for normal energized and de-energized circuits
  • “Low” mode for precision tracing with a low signal to reduce coupling to nearby wires and metal objects
  • “Loop” mode for closed loop de-energized circuits

Two Transmitter Output Frequencies

The 2000-T automatically senses whether the system is energized or de-energized and selects a 6 kHz or 33 kHz output frequency.

Eight Receiver Sensitivity Levels

More sensitivity levels mean more flexibility and accuracy when tracing.

Complete Kit

The Fluke 2052 Advanced Wire Tracer Kit conveniently comes with everything required to start tracing wires and circuits. The accessory kit includes test leads, test probes, blade and round outlet adapters, and alligator clips to connect the transmitter to electrical systems. Connecting the transmitter to a bare conductor with the included alligator clips and test leads will always provide the most accurate results. However, in situations where a direct connection to a bare conductor is not available, the included i400 Current Clamp can be used with the “Loop” mode to induce a boosted 6 kHz signal through the insulation. The kit also includes batteries and a hard carrying case.

Wireless Irradiance Meter: No leads requiredSMFT-1000 Solar Tools Kit: Fluke Multifunction PV Tester and Performance Analyzer, I-V Curve Tracer

To perform precise I-V curve measurements, real time irradiance and temperature data is needed. The included IRR2-BT irradiance meter wirelessly connects to the SMFT-1000 to communicate data in real time, providing the most accurate I-V curve measurements possible. If the wireless connection is interrupted for any reason, the IRR2-BT will continue recording data for up to 17 hours that can later be matched to tests taken with the SMFT-1000.

It’s a hassle to change the configuration of test leads constantly while doing different tests. With Fluke’s “Keep the Leads” system, less time is wasted on set-up, and fewer user errors occur while testing PV systems. Now you can get more testing done in the field in less time

SMFT-1000 Solar Tools Kit: Fluke Multifunction PV Tester and Performance Analyzer, I-V Curve Tracer

Colour Screen with Integrated Interface: On-screen instructions provide an easy walkthrough of tests

Switch the SMFT-1000 to Auto Test Mode to perform an automatic sequence of tests in a variety of combinations:

  • With insulation test or without insulation test
  • IEC 62446-1 testing for Category 1 or Category 1 and 2
  • IEC 62446-1 testing for Protection Class I or Protection Class II

On-location I-V curve results: compare manufacturer I-V curve data to measured data instantlySMFT-1000 Solar Tools Kit: Fluke Multifunction PV Tester and Performance Analyzer, I-V Curve Tracer

While taking an I-V curve reading in the field, the SMFT-1000 will display the curve as it loads in the test data against the module specifications as defined by the manufacturer. This makes it easy to immediately confirm measurements without using a laptop or tablet. Run the I-V curve test on new installations to confirm they are working according to the site specifications or to test if existing modules or strings are working to their expected performance levels.
